Casting Workshop, Lee Cadden
WEEK ONE;
This week we got inducted into the plaster workshop. We casted our hands to understand how to cast something basic. 3 of my fingers broke off, but can be glued back on. This showed me the fragility but also the versatility and flexibility of how plaster can be used to make all sorts of outcomes.
WEEK TWO;
We made plaster tiles by making a clay square and engraving onto it, then mixing and pouring the plaster over the top.
I liked using clay because being able to draw something to cast is so versatile, whereas casting an actual object is more limited.
WEEK THREE;
We had free rein of what we wanted to create this week, so I brought in a Hello Kitty plastic figure, and me and Rowan collaborated on making a cast and some plaster figures out of it.
I learnt more thoroughly how to make a cast out of an object and how to add colour to plaster.
