Do Ho Suh
Do Ho Suh is an installation artist who explores the unstable boundaries and categorisation of pieces of space.

He was born in South Korea, and studied and lives in the United Sates, moving between New York, Seoul and London. This is an important influence on his work as he thinks about the connections between individual places and cultures.

He uses a lot of repetition in his work to reflect individuality and the connections and sameness between individuals.

His installations vaguely resemble items of clothing, and were put in his suitcase when travelling between the three cities.

He also makes drawings that are made to connect spaces, featuring bridges, a corridors, stairs or gateways.

His work relates to camouflage and misdirection as they are about an absence and a presence of a space or a thing, a space that is there but is not there. Much like the feeling of travelling from different places.

This relates to my work, as it has influenced me to think about absence as a subject matter. About how to show somethung or someone being in a space, but also not being there.
