Drawing Workshop, Fran Schenk
SESSION ONE:
This week's task was to draw 5 things that represent me. I drew my favourite book, a bracelet that I wear all the time, a childhood toy, a cowboy hat and my favourite drink. I accented them with pink to reflect my favourite colour. Then, the group collaborated on a collage on the wall. The mix of different materials, styles and ideas ended up (in my opinion) to work really well. I included images of my favourite parts here . ->
SESSIONS TWO AND THREE:
The next tasks involved large scale drawings, which got us to think about how pieces look from different distances, and things such as detail, line and colour. We used a projector to upscale our drawings and then I used charcoal, coloured pencils and marker pen to add detail and depth that can be seen from far away.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNT???

I chose this workshop to develop my drawing skills as I realised normally avoid drawing in my work.

This workshop, as I thought it would, opened my eyes to the possibilities of drawing as a tool to create a finished piece. I loved working big scale, and I was also able to practise my shading and techincal drawing skills.
