Interventions was a task set to help us to get to know the building, start researching - particularly in the library - and to get us to think outside of the box.

At first I did not know how I would tackle this task, but I found two books in the library, one by an artist I already knew (Nara), and one by a completely new artist who has quickly become one I am very interested in (Van Der Stokker). Together they gave me a starting point of what to make.

I used found objects from the studio to make my finished piece, inspired by Van Der Stokker's playful attitude towards work, one of her quotes being "I like things that have as little meaning as possible", and a Nara work named "Living in the box".
The cardboard reminds me of when children make houses or rocket ships out of cardboard boxes.

I used foil tape to add accents to the eyes, and flowers to the path leading to the house, which make it look inviting, however in the door there is a sign that says 'keep out" inspired by Van Der Stokker's use of text, and the look on the characters face (who looks grumpy and even slightly angry) give a different impression. I named the piece "At Home" to reflect that the character is happy being at home all alone, without disturbance.

I placed the piece in two places; the library in-between the books, becuase I think the library is a homely place, but also a place to go when you want to be left alone, and by the lockers simply because the box shape of the piece and the box shape of the lockers worked well, and also I liked the shades of blue and pink working together.
